The Problem Solving Company, (Workshops at Schools Ltd) based in Derbyshire, are looking for another full time member of staff to run Maths Workshops and Team Building Activity Days in Primary and Secondary Schools throughout the UK.
We are looking for an instructor to be living no further North than approx Manchester / Sheffield, to base themselves to run our workshops throughout the country. A company van will be provided for all work related travel. For insurance purposes, the candidate will require a clean full UK driving licence.
Starting Salary : £24,000 paid pro rata on 39 weeks (Term Time) = £18,000
Holidays: 30 days full Time = pro rata 22.5 days plus any Bank Holidays falling in term time. You would not be employed in the 13 weeks of the school holidays
We also offer a generous Lieu system for each full week spent in schools, which can be as much as 39 days a year. This is to compensate for time driving and working away
The Total days we expect you to work per year is approx 130 – 140
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be required to run a combination of hands on Maths Problem Solving Workshops and Team Building Activity Days throughout the UK.
Our workshops and activity days are run in school halls and outside in school grounds throughout the academic year.
Our Maths Workshops allow children of approx 5 years through to teenagers to participate in hands on large maths puzzles and challenges.
An enthusiasm for maths is essential and full training will be given.
Such workshops are generally undertaken alone and the instructor will be required to work with classes of up to 30 children at a time.
Our Team Building Days provide large numbers of students with the opportunity to take part in problem solving and team building challenges. Such days can be undertaken alone or with large teams of other instructors.
The successful candidate will be expected to run workshops throughout the UK and therefore must be flexible in hours worked and be willing to undertake overnight stays in hotels paid for by the company.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will have a clean full UK driving license.
Experience of working with Primary and Secondary aged students.
Comfortable speaking to groups

Comfortable with city driving
