Blindfolded Robots is a great team building challenge to help gain trust between two or more participants.

The instructor / teacher will need to place lots of beanbags or even screwed up pieces of paper around the activity area.

In pairs, one person should put on a blindfold. Their partner must then guide them to pick up as many pieces as they can. Encourage descriptive language that helps the students to position themselves in the correct place to have success. For example; move forward one step; take a side step to your right.

After a set amount of time the pair can swap roles.

Depending on your activity area you may have more than one pair working at the same time or alternatively if you want to run it as a competition each team can have a set amount of time.

There are many possible variations of Blindfolded Robots.

A nice twist is that if you work in a group of three, one person is blindfolded and picks up the objects. The second person can see where the objects are but cannot speak. Instead they must gesture instructions to a third person. This third person cannot see the objects but can see the second person. Person three can then relay the directions to person one.
