Balloon Tower requires small groups of 4 – 5 participants to work together as a team to build the tallest tower that they can.
Each group will need to be given the same number of balloons, the same length of tape plus a pair of scissors.
The towers that are built must be freestanding so cannot be attached to anything else. This includes being taped to the floor.
The participants must be encouraged to plan carefully to give themselves the best chance of success. It can be very difficult to remove tape from balloons without popping them!
It is sensible to set a time limit for this challenge. At this point the towers can then be measured. Once a winner has been declared the leader can sit down with the students and talk about where they struggled and how they overcame these difficulties to succeed in their goal.
